During difficult times, we can often find our strength in our togetherness.

Sunshine Stations.

During a challenging chapter at the organization, I began the Sunshine Station initiative.

As our organization faced difficulties, I watched my peers become defeated and organization morale decrease. I decided that while I did not have the power to eliminate the difficulties, I did have the power to bring a little extra sunshine into people’s lives. I began by writing emails and notes to team members who I’d seen go the extra mile, or who seemed like they needed an extra pick-me-up, to let them know why I appreciated working with them. It grew until I pitched the idea of creating Sunshine Stations around the organization, which were filled with gifts, treats, and a variety of cards that staff could use to brighten other peoples’ days. Spreading sunshine not only brings joy to those who receive it, but those who give it.

Stronger Together.

When the COVID-19 pandemic hit, we recognized the need for a more comprehensive employee morale program.

The Stronger Together campaign included messaging around the organization to uplift and empower our team. From posters in break rooms and at time clocks, murals in the cafeteria and hallway entrances, t-shirts, mugs, email communication, and treats, we engaged our employees with uplifting messaging and events.

CARES Team.

As the COVID-19 pandemic slowed, we transitioned out of the Stronger Together campaign and into a fresh morale program that didn’t have ties to the pandemic.

The organization created the CARES team, which I supported through the creation of the CARES team brand. I continue to support this team with any communication needs or projects that arise.

Gratitude Grows.

After the CARES team was created, we evolved the Sunshine Stations into the Gratitude Grows program.

Through this program, employees can use our Gratitude Grows cards, depicted here, to recognize their fellow team members. After writing a kind note at the top, staff can deliver the card to a fellow coworker, who can then use the card for a free meal in our cafeteria, or they can enter our monthly prize contests by dropping the detachable bottom portion of the card into our drawing boxes.
